The Northwood Farms Twelve Week

HORSEMANSHIP CHALLENGE

1 HORSE. 30. RIDES. 40 HOURS. 12 WEEKS.

WHAT IS THE CHALLENGE?

Here are the details about the Northwood Farms Twelve Week Horsemanship Challenge!

Every year each Challenger picks 1 special horse (mule or donkey). We commit to spending 40 total horsemanship hours and riding that one horse 30 times.

Any rides count towards our 40 hours. (5 rides can be bareback the rest need to be saddled. No minimum ride time but 2 hours minimum between rides.)

IMPORTANT! This Challenge is for one horse and one horse only.

If you declare your horse a driving horse for The Challenge, you will still do the 40 hours but instead of rides you'll fully hitch up 30 times with no minimum time hitched but 2 hrs minimum between hitching.

Remember: We chose one special horse and are ready to grind it out rain or shine dark or cold (or hot in Australia).

When you get through into The Facebook Page, share a photo of YOU and YOUR ONE CHOSEN HORSE.

The Challenge begins on the first Sunday of January at 12:01am and finishes twelve weeks later on Sunday in late March 11:59pm.

Posting updates is not required but is a huge support, inspiration and service to everyone else.

The gateway to the challenge opens at dawn PST (Northwood Farms Time) the Friday before kickoff. And, when the clock strikes midnight on the pre kickoff Saturday, we close the gate behind us.

If you're IN, you're IN. If you're out, you're out.

IMPORTANT! Everyone is welcome! BUT, the deadline is set in stone. Make sure you and your friends are IN on time.

You need to find the current year’s Official Northwood Farms Facebook Group and request to join by midnight on Saturday before challenge kickoff.

HOW DO I JOIN?

Look for emails from me (Emma Daily Kline) starting around Christmas time with reminders about the challenge and eventally a link to the Challenge Gateway (the new facebook group) where you can request to join.

If you request to join by midnight on the Saturday before kickoff, you’ll be IN for sure!

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

The Northwood Farms Twelve Week Challenge is FREE and always will be.

4.3.2.1 FALL THROWDOWN

And guess what else?

🍁For the Challengers who made it IN, we always have ONE LAST PARTY before we plunge into darkness…

The Northwood Farms 4.3.2.1 Fall Throwdown is for the corresponding year’s Challengers Only.

If you were IN The Twelve Week Horsemanship Challenge (even if you didn’t complete it), you’re invited!

HOW DO I JOIN?

Every Fall The Northwood Farms Official Challengers get back together for a last party before the time changes and we plunge into darkness.

Here’s the deal:

PICK ONE HORSE.

You can do anything you want and spend your hours in big chunks.

Go horse camping, get your groundwork awesome or anything else that maybe you just didn't get to do this summer. Squeeze it in!

Just put in the time.

The Throwdown always ends on midnight the Sunday when we fall back and change the clocks. So use up the daylight!

Remember! Only the current year’s Northwood Farms Horsemanship Challengers are invited.
